Slowly into the course journey...

Image
Today was the first day after spot admission and there are quite a number of newbies to join us for the journey. During the first hour, Gibi ma'am had took the initiative to give the chance of self introduction for the new student-teachers. It was so interesting to know that we've got quite a handfull of talented people. Each of the their self introductions left us in bliss.. can't help to say that they're all one better than the other👏👌 After that Gibi ma'am took some portions about 'Educational psychology.' The class of ma'am was as interesting as always especially when she mixes our studying portions with real life incidents with some flavors of jokes and some film portions. Today was no different, and she quoted a phrase from a film said by Mohanlal and yeas! it was worth something to note here: "Jeevitham sankalpathekaal sundharaman..ath jeevikkan ariyavunnavark mathram.."   The next hour was taken by Maya ma'am. She taught us the i

Towards the real academic sessions..

As usual the day started with a prayer and then the first hour was taken by Maya ma'am. Ma'am taught us the origin, concepts and characteristics of education and education as a psychological process.    "What one see and their perception varies and they rarely walks hand-in-hand."                          -phrase worth to keep in mind while surviving in today's world is what I thought when teacher mentioned this.😁 Next hour was taken by Ancy ma'am. She took the lessons about 'Technology' and particularly about 'Communication.' She provided us some notes to write down and it was well detailed and well versed.  The next hour was yet another seminar session taken by M.Ed scholars from Govt. College of Teacher Education, Thycaud. Today's session was focused on 'Women empowerment and human rights.' The seminar was very informative and the active participation of our batchmates made the whole program interesting. With the two seminars

Assembly day..

Image
Today was the first assembly conducted after our admission. We are supposed to wear our traditional wear today- 'the sari'😁. Most of the students flaunted the wear perfectly that almost gave the vibe of "teachers" everywhere.  The assembly today was conducted by M.Ed scholars. The assembly started with a prayer then pledge, thought of the day, news today, a speech about Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, and campus news then they have presented a book to the library. Also seniors has inaugurated a new program to donate books to the kids who can't afford them. 💚 Our beloved principal Dr. Benedict sir has delivered a message to us with an interesting Russian folk story. After that, the assembly adjourned with our national anthem. The first period was our optional subject which was taken by our class mentor Shiney ma'am.  Then we had attended seminars taken by M.Ed scholars. Today's seminar topics were 'Life skills' and 'Disaster management.' The presen

Today's session started with Gibi ma'am class. She took the basics in the subject Psychology- the origin of the word and the types.  "Do it now" Simple and strong phrase  M.Ed scholars from Govt, College of Teacher Education, Thycaud visited us as part of their intenships program, which is a part of their curriculum. Those seniors provided us some great time and two of them took seminars on the topic 'value education' and 'gender equality', which were extremely relevant in the present scenario. The way they presented were super awesome. We were able to think so many things as an individual in this judgmental society and things we will be able to change as a teacher one day.  They also left us with an interesting task- Poster making on the topic 'value education' or 'gender equality' or both. We were divided into 4 groups and my team went for making poster about 'value education.' We were able to have a good interaction between

When the normal "Monday morning blues" transformed to "Energised Monday" of the week...

Image
Mondays are always followed after the words like 'lazy', 'depressing', 'weekend killer' etc. But it was the first time I was able to describe a "Monday" as a kick start for a beautiful week ahead or simply "Energiser Monday"; all thanks Dr. G.V. Hari sir who exhilarated the whole environment of the class within seconds and holding the same mood for 2 hours straight.👏👏 He used the principle 'start the class with energisers like singing, jokes etc' and proved to us that the mentor can shift the mood of the class to a higher level with these energisers. The class was extremely informative and really fun in a way that we even forgot to blink😃. Sir taught us some important words which was important to a mentor or as an individual- Energiser, Readyness, Analhak, Experience, Introspection, Allegory, Adaptability etc

Fifth day: Orientation class 4

Image
The day started with Gibi teacher's class. She taught us about the significance of psychology in teaching field. She talked about teaching competency that included subject competency, teaching technique competency and the process of knowing the learner. That was a very informative session. Then, during the physical education session we broke a sweat by playing a minor game 'snatch the ball.' The game was soo refreshing. We just became children for an hour, it was really fun to play as well as to watch. The afternoon session was filled with various stage performances by the seniors from M.Ed batch as part of their 'talent hunt' events. Each one of them were filled with burning energy and confidence, that just watching them perform filled us with lots of enjoyment and the whole place has turned to a festive mode. They sung some songs, danced and conducted a skit. Through them we were able to understand what talent hunt really was and made us realize that we gotta wor

Fourth day: Orientation class 3

Benedict sir nourished the class by providing us valuable information about what its truly meant to be a 'mentor.' Sir taught us the qualities that we should posses while we become a mentor. Some of them are: Continuous reviewing of ourselves  Continuous professional development Should be able to create an emotionally conductive atmosphere Roles for being the "Social engineers." and the most important point to notice- 'Before you teach your students, learn your learners'                                                              - 'Before you touch the brain of your student, touch their                                                                              heart.'   Towards the end of the session, sir also gave us an interesting activity to work on; which is to draw any possible things with the numbers 2 and 4.  These are the ones I could possibly draw😁 During Joju sir session, Kavya sang a beautiful song. Just wow! Such beautiful voice the g

Third Day: Orientation class 2

As the continuation of self introductions as well as light classes about the subject was going on, a former student teacher of the college has paid a visit. She spend her time with us by sharing her valuable life experiences and academic times to us which enlightened us.     Let's plant the seeds today for a safe tomorrow During the afternoon session, we gathered around to plant and nourish a vegetable garden in our campus. The activity was inaugurated by our principal Dr. K. J. Benedict. It was more fun to do gardening with our collegues and teachers .

Second day: Orientation class 1

Image
After the first day of a new venture, we looked forward to the second day. Teachers came and introduced to us during their respective hours. Benedict sir came in during the first hour and motivated us by making us understand the importance of the profession and made us to do an thoughtful activity; to write a letter to any of our beloved teacher in this journey so far who has left a deep mark in us. It was really heart-warming that we were able to write the words coming from our heart with utmost honesty and gratefulness for them, for turning us into something valuable. It was an activity for us to understand projection technique. Also, sir has taught us a meaningful definition about education quoted by our Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi:         Education is meant to draw out the best in the child or a person from his/her mind, body and soul   The next hour was taken by Gibi ma'am. She has made us to do an interesting activity to draw a person in our notebook, with our book p

College opening day

15th day in the month of November, I stepped into a whole new journey; a journey that will lead to the a glorious profession- 'The Teacher.' Got admitted into city's one of the most excellent college Mar Theophilus Training College Nalanchira, TVM, where I chose Natural Science as my optional subject. The first day has begun with a prayer at 9am which was followed by inauguration ceremony and PTA meeting. The inaugural function was filled with beautiful performances from our senior batches, indeed a visual treat. Our beloved principal Dr. K. Y. Benedict has inaugurated the ceremony and then encouraged us with his motivational speech. The whole ceremony such that has provided a warm welcome for us. Then we were moved to our respective classes where we met our seniors, they gave us a brief about the course and their experiences that made us more and more curious about the course in a way we started to look forward for it. And then we met our assigned class teacher Shiney ma
